So yeah, it's going

Yeah, it's uh, going.

I have Four courses this semester. Well, six if you count a lab and the intro to college course. I am taking College Writing, Maroeconomics, Intro to Programming, and Calculus I. With the exception of my 8am Writing Class, I am enjoying my classes. The main reason I amn't enjoying the writing class is because I have to be up at a reasonable time to get to school. I don't like writing a whole lot anyway, so the time is basically just an excuse not to like it. Other than that though, things are pretty good. I am thinking about running for one of the 4 freshman senators. Anybody out there reading my blog that has election experience, I would appreciate it! Anyway that the long and short of it.

A Moment of Revelation....

Hazaa! While making comment on John's (Yes London, I can't bring myself to call him that anymore for some reason...) latest Blog entry. I had one of those amzingly simple, yet revolutionary moments where you realize something that has been developing over some time.

Here is the backdrop: While typing out my comment I went back and clicked Sharon's username, sending me to her blog, which I had know previous knowledge of. I read it then realized that I hadn't read some other friends blog in some time. This is where it hit me, like a ton of bricks falling from a C-47 military Transport. Since the beginning of the summer, I feel that I have become more in tune with my friends and their respective lives. I think that the main reason for this is the chronicling of their daily lives on a medium known as the internet. All of these blogs that have popped up since the beginning of the summer give me and my friends a peek at the daily grind or exciting moments that may never be shared in a formal setting since they may bedeemed as mundane or not as important as other matters at hand.

Not only have the blogs helped me get more in tune with my friends, but they have taken our relationships as friends into another dimension entirely. We are used to the whole group being together for activities and the like. While this is great, it seems to me that the blogs have opened the avenue for individuals to shine in their own way. Each blog is owned by an individual and is a chance for them to talk about what they want to. The content of the blogs is completely conversation independant, by this I mean that it is not governed by the topic of immediate conversation unless the author wants to comment upon a set of ideas going around. Even then though, the author has a chance to carefully choose their words and let their full emotion, knowledge, and/or thoughts be brought to light. I have found that this difference, that is immediate response versus a timely response, makes a huge difference in the way the conversation comes across and is recieved.

I guess this may not be so revolutionary, but I indeed have enjoyed this recent development and STRONGLY encourage all of you, my friends, to continue this experience known as blogging.

About this whole college thing...

Hey folks! I ran into some free time this afternoon so I decided to do an update.

So some of you probably missed me at Church this morning. Yes, I was at school. There were information sessions that were required so I had to go. I found them informative, but they didn't seem necessary to me. Also I won't be at evening service tonight either. I have required sessions starting at 7 going till 11. After the info sessions, they had the DWC Olympics. They were scheduled from 1-4, but went from 1-2. At 4:30 I will be having dinner with the Hinkles at the Common Thread here on campus. They are coming mostly because I am here, but also because they were invited to an alumni/supporter dinner designed to meet the new president.

That reminds me. Everytime I turn around I find that there is another new faculty member. So far the president, the student activities director, and my advisor have all joined the college in the last 6 weeks. I am sure there are more.

So yeah, the whole college thing is working out ok. I am sure it will get better at the year progresses. It has been hard for me to get to meet people because during the free time most people hang in the dorms, and the Common Thread (commuter central) has been closed most of the weekend.
