October Ends...

So here we are at the end of the month of October. What do I have to say for myself? Very little actually. My October had been filled with lots of busy-ness. My father has been without a job for quite a while now and the stress of it is starting to wear on the family. Maybe it hasn't been this bad before, or maybe it is because I am older, but it seems as though we have hit a very low, low. Please be in prayer for my family and for my dad to find a job soon.

On a lighter note, I had the most amazing Friday I have had in a long time. It started with events the day before. You see, after realizing that I had a software project due tomorrow that I had barely started and discrete math homework still to do I came down with a headache that incapacitated me for the evening. So I went to bed at 6:30 dreading the worst for the next morning. When I arrived at my first class, however, I found out that the software projet wasn't due untill this friday. As if that wasn't enough, I made a tremendous leap forward with the program that put me ahead of where I expected to be at the end of next week! At this point I was thinking that my day was headed for a downward spiral, but I was happily wrong. It turned out that I was mistaken about the discrete math HW and there wasn't any. I went to work and had a relatively good day there too. then I went home and bought a car. Yes, I bought a car. '92 Honda accord. 140,070 miles on it, black, with power moonroof. Not a bad deal I thought. The only disappointmetn was that I couldn't drive it until Tuesday. Why Tuesday? because it won't be registered until then....

So there is your update until I decide I need to update again...

75th Anniversary!

Break out the party goods, this marks my 75th post. I know it isn't really worth celebrating, but I felt like posting about something and I noticed that this was going to be my 75th post.

Now that I have that out of my system I can move on to other things. I am averaging about 9 hours a week now while going to school. It isn't bad really. I also am a member of the school webteam again this year, but I don't really know how much work that is going to be. School is really my full time job right now. At this point I should be into the swing of things, but I'm not. Ih well, such is life.

In other news, a bunch of the guys (Curtis, Nathan, Corey, Jared, and I) got together last night and had a mini 'movie marathon' We watched Teenage Mutant Nina Turtles, which is an entirely different movie when looked at from the fresh perspective of being older, The Nob and Nobility episode of Blackadder the Third series, and UHF which was about as close to having been written by ourselves as any movie I've seen yet.

Now I must return to the work at hand: School.

School and stuff.

I don't really have the time to update this, but I think I probably should. Nothing really substantial has happened since my last post. I have gone back to school and have basically slacked off as much as possible. Looking ahead to the rest of this semester, it looks like I will be writing more papers this semester than any other semester before (all two of them!). So yeah, there is a quick update for you all...

Summer is basically over.

Yes. Summer is over, but before I go into that, I want to wrap up the story from my last post.

So when I last left you, We were waiting for the insurance company to get back to us. Well, they did get back to us, but they were offering us an amount which we did not think was fair market value. This prompted several calls back and forth mostly going nowhere. They eventually did bring their offer up when we brought the insurance commissioner's office in, but by then we had placed the claim with our own insurance company. Our insurance company worked much faster and offered us a reasonable amount the first time around, so we ended up finishing the claim with them and letting them go after the other insurance company.

OK, now that I have filled you in on that I can move on to more exciting topics. Of course these 'more exciting topics' are not really that exciting, but they are more exciting than the previous news... Last week I did two things. The first was go on a hike with the Gray family, Brittany and Abby. We went up the Old Bridle trail to the Greenleaf hut then onwards to Mt. Lafayette. Then we traveled acroos the 'knife edge' over Mt. Lincoln and Haystack then down the Falling Waters trail. We got a late start and finished late, but it was a lot of fun regardless. Since a picture is wortyh a thousand words I we let the photos do the rest of the talking (ask me for password via email/IM/phone whatever). the other fun thing I did last week was go to a drive-in. Basically the back-story is that Abby had never been to a drive-in and read about our drive-in event earlier this summer and asked me to help coordinate going to the drive-in while she was visiting. So we invited a bunch of people got everything planned, only to find out that the drive-in changed its movies and nobody wanted to see what they were showing. Not to be stopped, I decided to convert my backyard into a drive-in of sorts. I called the invited and let them know I was thinking about chaning the plans. When they heard about the idea, most of them were pretty excited about the homegrown drive-in. We got everybody together and had a grand time experiencing the drive-in with all the comforts of home. Score one for me!

Tired...

Yes, I am tired, but not in the sense you may be thinking. I am not really physically tired, but rather, I am tired of cars and driving. If were not already otherwise informed, I was side-swiped last Tuesday after leaving work. I hadn't even been in the car for more than a minute. So here it is, the full story. I am just heading home, minding all the laws and rules of the road when I caught a car accelerating quickly towards me in my peripheral vison. I attempted to avoid him, but it was in vain. He ended up clipping me on the driver's side rear from the tire back to the bumper. Well, because of the forces involved and the way he hit me, he caused me to go into a spin. This spin lasted all of one half-second. Let me tell you, that was one of the scarier half-seconds I have ever had. Did I mention the 18-wheeler that was coming down the otherside of the road that I was spinning into? In the end, nobody was hurt, the guy who hit me admitted all blame for the accident, I had a witness who testified in my favor, and my car is probably totalled. I say probably totalled since the insurance company hasn't sent anybody to look at the car yet, but due to the nature of the damage, the age of the car, and the high milage, the car is probably going to be totalled. Any suggestions for my "new" car?
